Pages

Verse 1
If I ever sat down to think about you
I bet, I could write a book about you

But, what's the use? What's the point?
The tears I cry shall wash them away

I thought I had you figured out
I thought I knew you, without a doubt

I had no clue of the mysteries you'd hidden
Inside of you
Away from me

Chorus

I thought I'd read you through

Read everything inside, out
Now I know that

The cover was all I read

All the pages inside I'd read before

Pages that told me so much about you
I did not know

That those pages were torn

I could have sworn
I knew you
I was so sure that I knew you

Verse 2

So many things you've held back
Things that don't matter to most

You kept them oh so close
Words that I said and moved on
Those were the words you held on to

I guess that the things went dark
Now, that, I see you're gone
I should have seen that you were alone

Now, these things remain unknown

Bridge

I could have filled out the pages myself
But, they would all be meaningless
These things, you hid are hard to suppress
And, if you confessed, I wouldn't love you any less

Chorus
I thought I'd read you through
Read everything inside, out
Now I know that
The cover was all I read

You wrote your story in blood
All the things you held back, you let it flood

I was a fool, I took you for granted
Now, that you're gone

I don't care of the unknown

I could have sworn I knew you

I was so sure that I knew you

I like your song. The theme of reading someone like a book is a very interesting way of looking at relationships. I love the picture too.
